Young Adults-College and Career Bible Study Class will meet at Austin’s house at 7:30 pm on Thursday, March 4th.

Married couples: Consider attending the March 5th and 6th PBA Marriage Conference at the Warehouse Church in Easley. Several ministers from our association, including our Austin, will be speaking The cost is $10 a couple. It will begin at 6:30 Friday night-supper will be served. See Austin for more details. Any mature single adult that would like to help serve the meal or do childcare that Friday night, please see Austin.

Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule for the Extraordinary Women’s Conference at the Bi-Lo Center on April 23rd and 24th. Rosanne will be ordering the tickets by March 8th to get the early rate of $49 for 10 women or more and add $10 to that if you want lunch.

Buckets of Hope” offer opportunity for every Baptist to provide hands-on help to Haitians. A “Bucket of Hope” consists of a plastic five-gallon bucket packed with selected foodstuffs. For about $30 anyone can purchase the materials and assemble a “Bucket of Hope.” The food contained in a single bucket will feed a Haitian family for a week. You are also requested to include a $10 cash contribution, placed in an envelope and attached to the lid of the bucket, to offset the cost of transportation of buckets. Deadline is March 5, 2010 to be delivered to PBA. The PBA has some white buckets. Packing instructions in the vestibule. Let the pastor know if you are interested.

Bulletin: Week of February 21, 2010

This morning you will be given the opportunity to help Debbie Boggs and her family in the death of her daughter, Holly Schaefer.

 

There will be a meeting at 5 pm today in the sanctuary for all persons that have agreed to or are considering being a hostess for a table at our upcoming Parade of Tables Fundraiser on March 27th. This is a very important information meeting and you can go ahead and sign up to participate and receive your tickets to sell at this meeting. We still need more table hostesses for this event. This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to help with the building fund, have a fun evening as well as participating in what we hope will become an annual event. Childcare will be available for this event, and if you would like to help in this area or others, please come to the meeting and see Janie Swords or Paula Norris.

 

We will continue our Winter Bible Study Wednesday night. Danny Merck will be teaching, “What Do You Think?”

Join our “Mission Impossible” group as a family and walk for better health-healthier heart and healthier blood pressure.

Mission Impossible: Walking to prevent and control High Blood Pressure and prevent Heart trouble is for the whole family. We challenge everyone to join the walk. Come by for a Blood Pressure check and weigh in and receive your packet after the morning services today.

 

Tonight after the evening service, we will be having cake and coffee to celebrate Preacher Royce’s birthday.

 

Finance Team meeting today at 5:00 pm.

 

On the 19th, the youth need to leave the church facility at 4:30. We should be back Sunday the 21st in time for the Sunday night service. Today, parents will have a meeting with Austin at 5:30 to get other details for the retreat.

 

This Thursday the 18th, the young adults will be having a meeting at Austin’s house at 7:30 pm.

 

We will continue our Winter Bible Study Wednesday night. Rosanne Maw will be teaching, “Do You Understand Now?”

 

There is a Rada Cutlery Catalog (along with order forms in the envelope that is attached to the catalog) located in the old vestibule. If you would like to order knives and other items, please follow the instructions on the envelope. All proceeds will go toward the youth camp.

Dinner will be served at 7 pm with a choice of ham, roast beef or chicken strips along with fruit cups, macaroni and cheese, green beans, slaw and dessert. Our guest speaker will begin at 7:30 pm. A nursery will be available for children six and under and child care for children ages 7-12 at $2 for one or two children or $5 for more than two children. A meal will be provided for the children. Adult tickets will be $12 each. We need volunteers to design and decorate tables with a theme of your choice for this event. Sign-up sheets are available in the vestibule and on the table outside the choir room. More details will follow, but we wanted you to get this on your calendar. Don’t miss this exciting night’s activity and this opportunity to help raise funds for the new Family Life Center.

Attention All Female Youth and all Mothers of all Youth! Mark your calendars now to attend the Mothers/Daughters Valentine Luncheon! Our special time together will be Saturday, February 13th beginning at 11:30 in the Fellowship Building. We’ll have fun games, yummy lunch, special music provided by Tina Cook Kelly and a guest speaker, Carrie Flemming, former journeyman missionary. Sign-up sheet is located in vestibule.

 

Winter Jam will be February 13th and cost is $10. We will meet at the church around 3 pm. We will eat on the way back; have some cash.

 

Look Up Lodge winter retreat Feb. 19th-21st balances due, today. Austin has a list showing how much each one owes. On Friday the 19th we will need to leave the church at 4:30 pm. We will be back before church Sunday.

The cost for the evening of entertainment is $5 per person due the day of the show. Please sign up at the Young at Heart bulletin board in the hall outside the Preacher’s study so we can give an accurate number for the meal to Rev. Loner. Come and join us and enjoy some good Christian fellowship.

 

The Extraordinary Women’s Conference is coming to the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville on April 23-24th. This is a month later than it has been for the past two years. I am planning to order tickets by March 8th in order to get the early rate of $49 for 10 women or more (add $10 if you would like lunch). Look for a sign-up sheet in the next couple of weeks for this wonderful event. Chonda Pierce with Jeremy Camp in concert are scheduled for Friday night. YOUNG AT HEART: Do you remember Hee Haw? On Saturday, February 20th, we are having “The Gospel Hee Haw Dinner Show” presented by Rev. Gregg Loner from Honea Path. We will begin at 5:30 pm in the fellowship building. There will be skits, jokes, sangin, good vittles and barrels of fun. The cost for the evening of entertainment is $5 per person due the day of the show. Please sign up at the Young at Heart bulletin board in the hall outside the Preacher’s study so we can give an accurate number for the meal to Rev. Loner. Come and join us and enjoy some good Christian fellowship.

 

A free eight week Arthritis Foundation Exercise class will begin January 18th at the Baptist Easley Hospital. The classes will meet twice a week (Monday’s and Thursday’s) from 1 pm till 2 pm on the 3rd floor of the hospital. Exercises are modified for various physical capabilities. Parents and Students: this summer the students (7-12th graders) are going to centrifuge camp at Ridgecrest, NC. The total cost for students will be $152. The fifty dollar deposits are due to Austin, January 24th. This will be a non-refundable deposit. Centrifuge date: June 28th-July 3rd.

 

Some of you still owe money on your deposit for February Retreat; see Austin for how much. Remember the remaining $20 is due February 7th.

 

On January 23, we will be having “Fathers, Sons and Guns.” Students will need to get a permission slip from Austin to go (this will be a highly adult supervised skeet shooting activity for all fathers of youth and young men in the youth group). The event will start in the fellowship building at 12 noon where chili will be served. After that, we will head to the Boggs’ place to do some organized shooting.

 

Attention All Female Youth and Mothers of all Youth! Mark your calendars now to attend the Mothers/Daughters Valentine Luncheon! Our special time together will be Saturday, February 13th beginning at 11:30 in the Fellowship Building. We’ll have fun games, yummy lunch, special music provided by Tina Cook Kelly and a guest speaker, Carrie Flemming, former journeyman missionary. Sign-up sheet is located in vestibule.

 

The Extraordinary Women’s Conference is coming to the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville on April 23-24th. This is a month later than it has been for the past two years. I am planning to order tickets by March 8th in order to get the early rate of $49 for 10 women or more (add $10 if you would like lunch). Look for a sign-up sheet in the next couple of weeks for this wonderful event. Chonda Pierce with Jeremy Camp in concert are scheduled for Friday night. Saturday will have Sheri Rose Shepherd, Angela Thomas, Matthew West in concert, Karen Kingsbury and Lysa TerKeurst. This will be spiritually uplifting and fun. Thanks, Rosanne

The 14th annual Sportsmen Expo will be held on Saturday, January 30th at The Garrison Arena at Clemson University from 12:00-5:00 pm. Guest speaker will be Shaw Grisby, a professional BASS fisherman. Advance ticket prices will be $5 for adults and $4 for 15 and under. Tickets at the door will be $7 for adults and $5 for those in uniform and 15 and under. The flowers are placed in the church today by Charlie, Nancy and Julie Beth McConnell in loving memory of Charlie’s dad, Tige McConnell, and Charlie’s sister, Linda Darby, on their birthdays.

 

We will not have Wednesday night services; instead, we will meet at 6 pm and share sandwiches together (bring your favorite sandwiches, drink and dessert). Then at 7 pm, we will go to the auditorium to watch a movie together, “The Wager” starring Randy Travis. “The Wager” is a soulful story of conviction and redemption that reminds us that in the face of adversity, we must find the strength to do what is right.

We will have our annual Christmas Day Service starting at 4 pm. It will last less than one hour. We will observe the Lord’s Supper, sing Christmas carols and read scripture. A great time to invite friends and family to come to church with you!
