Making Decisions
William McKinley, the 25th US President, once had to choose between two equally qualified men for a key job. He puzzled over the choice until he remembered a long-ago incident.
On a rainy night, McKinley had boarded a crowded streetcar. One of the men he was now considering had also been aboard, though he didn’t see McKinley. Then an old woman carrying a basket of laundry struggled into the car, looking in vain for a seat. The job candidate pretended not to see her and kept his seat. McKinley gave up his seat to help her.
Remembering the episode, which he called “this little omission of kindness,” McKinley decided against the man on the streetcar. Our decisions—even the small, fleeting one—tell a lot about us

Handling moral discomfort
Actress Patricia Heaton, a committed Christian, isn’t afraid to show her disgust with immoral talk or activities. For example, she was supposed to make a presentation at the American Music Awards a few years ago, but the foul language used by some performers bothered her. Much of the talk was being “bleeped out” by the television network.
Heaton decided not to remain in such an uncomfortable setting. She stood up, walked out and went home.
Many people who saw Heaton leave sent her e-mail messages or letters praising her for her courage. We should all have the courage to stand up for our beliefs.

Streaming Sermon Update

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

The stream is up and running! Click here to listen to a live stream of previously recorded sermons (over 100 sermons and counting). Once the bugs are worked out, we will be able to offer live sermon audio each Sunday at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm eastern time, in addition to the pre-recorded sermons. We of course will continue to offer and add to the podcast feed, as well as to the queue of sermons available in the stream.

Please forgive the audio quality of some of the older sermons in the play-list; they were recorded before I knew what I was doing:-)  The poorer quality recordings will eventually be culled from the stream when I have time (I hope).
