Someone took Jesus!
A couple of days after Christmas, the Nativity scene was still up in the chancel of a San Francisco church. Walking by it, the pastor noticed that the baby Jesus was missing from the manger.
Shortly afterward, as the pastor walked outside the church, he saw a small boy pulling a new wagon. In the wagon bed was a doll that looked very much like the missing baby Jesus.
The pastor greeted the boy and asked him about the doll. “I got it in the church,” the boy replied
“Why did you take it from the church?”
“Well,” the boy answered. “I prayed for a new wagon and told the Lord Jesus that if I got one, I would give him a ride. I got the wagon, took him for a ride and now I’m bringing him back to the church.”
Living for Jesus, Bro. Royce

If you did not get an e-mail from me last week, please write down your e-mail address and turn it in at the church office. Thanks, Bro. Royce

Christmas Parade
If you would like to work on the Christmas parade float, be at the church at 7:00 pm on Friday, December 7th. This Sunday and Wednesday night, the 5th will be the only days you can donate candy. This should be wrapped, hard candy (preferably candy canes). We will attach theses candies to small fliers that will be promoting the Christmas special music on December 22nd and 23rd. There will be a box at the front entrance of the church for the candy donations, or if you prefer, you can save the candy for this Sunday morning when the Pastor Pals will be taking it up.

Providence Christian Academy
Providence Christian Academy is seeking any retired teachers that belong to this congregation who would be willing to volunteer and mentor some very capable young boys in their upper school there at PCA. There are some projects that need to be done to benefit the school, but they do not have enough staffing to guide them. Some of the projects include scraping paint, removing wood and replacing with new and fixing sinks, just to name a few. The school needs a facelift in some areas. If interested, please call them. Not only will the school improve, but the skills that the boys will learn will be beneficial for them.

The Golden Compass Atheist Movie
Thanks to a church member who sent this information via e-mail. This might be of interest to you if you have children who likes to watch movies. You may want them to avoid this one.
A new movie in December called the Golden Compass is coming out. It is written by Phillip Pullman, a proud atheist and who belongs to secular humanist societies. He hates C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia and has written a trilogy to show the other side. The movie has been dumbed down to fool kids and their parents in the hope that they will buy his trilogy where in the end, the children kill God, and everyone can do as they please. Nicole Kidman stars in this movie, so it will probably be advertised a lot. (In fact, it is already being advertised on TV.)

2008 Women’s Life Style

Pumpkin People
How is being a Christian like being a pumpkin?
God sees us, picks us out of the dirt, cleans us off, takes the yucky material out of us by forgiving us, puts a smile on our faces and places a shining light within us for others to see.
Jesus said: “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16, NRSV).
Living for Jesus, Bro. Royce

Thank you church family for all you do for me and my family. We are truly blessed to be your pastor. I love and appreciate each one of you. We had a great day! Thank you especially Church Staff Team.
Love, Bro. Royce

Acteens World Crafts
The Acteens would like to say thank you for your participation in the World Crafts Catalog party. The orders received so far exceed $850. They will continue to accept orders through the Sunday morning service on November 4th. Orders will be back by mid-November. If you have not placed an order already, catalogs are located in both vestibules or from any Acteen. Please add 10% for shipping charges to your order total and make your check payable to the church.
The Acteens will meet on Saturday, November 17th at 10:00 am in the downstairs of the church in the room on the left past the water fountain. We will have our regular meeting and then travel to Easley for lunch and on to the drop-off center for Operation Christmas Child. We will return to the church between 2:00-3:00 pm, and your child will call for pick up at the church.

Sound Track of Norris
The student Revolution praise band will be sponsoring a fundraiser on November 17th beginning at 6:00 pm and ending around 8:30 pm. We will be having a chili supper and have a time of singing. If you have a favorite song you would like to hear, please list it on the request sheet in the vestibule. Please come and have a great time with us. We will be taking a love offering only. This will be taken to pay back the church for going to a conference earlier in the year.

Foliage-A-Thon: On December 2, the students will be having a ministry and fundraiser. More information about this will be coming soon.

Parent/Child Dedication
We will have Parent/Child Dedication on November 18th in the 11 AM Service. If you would like to participate, there is a form that must be completed. These forms are located outside the church office in the bin near the door. It must be completed and returned to the church office by November 11th.

Health Ministry Team
Congratulations to the Health Ministry Team on receiving the Stain Glass Award from Palmetto Health Baptist for the 4th straight year. Please note that this is a correction from Sunday’s bulletin. It read 3rd straight year, but it is the 4th year they have received it. Thank you Team for all of the faithful and hard work you do to keep the church family healthy.

Visitation
Come join us on Thursday night to go on visitation in the community. We will meet in the Spares and Pairs Sunday School Classroom at 5:45 pm. Everyone in the church is invited to participate.

Thanks
Thank you to the 3rd and 4th Grade Sunday School Class for donating candy for the Mexico children.

Christmas Ornaments
Our fellowship building is used by many groups and families during the Christmas season, and we would like for it to be as attractive as possible. Due to many of our ornaments being worn or broken, the Social Team is requesting that your family make a gift of one ornament. No specific theme or color is requested, only that the ornament be appropriate for our fellowship building. A box will be placed in the old and new vestibules for your donation until November 25th. Thank you for your gift.

Country Santa
During the month of November, WMU will be placing boxes at selected locations throughout the church. These boxes will be used to collect new and gently used toys and stuffed animals for Country Santa. Please give as your heart directs and know that you are contributing to the children of Pickens County. For any questions, please contact Michelle Stancil or Becky Harper.

Becoming Foster Parents
Pickens County is in great need of foster parents for abused or neglected children who have been taken out of the parent’s home. Individuals or couples can be licensed as foster parents by completing pre-licensure training. Easley Baptist Church is hosting an orientation meeting on Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm to answer questions and concerns on foster parenting.

Centennial Cookbook
Recipe submission forms for the centennial cookbook are located in both vestibules. Completed forms may be dropped off in the library (book-drop). Recipes will be collected through December. More information about our cookbook will be provided after Christmas.
