Bulletin: Week of 03/29/2009

We have received $2299.89 toward our $2700 goal for our Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions. We need $400. Pray and give.

 

Easter musical Champion of Love will be Sunday, April 5th at 7 pm.

 

Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 12th at 7:00 am. Hardee’s biscuits will be served in the fellowship building following the service. There will be an offering for LMA Benevolence.

 

RISING TO BUILD PRAYER WALKS: April 1st-Kat Albertson will be praying from 1-1:30 pm.

 

The Kimble’s will be providing snacks and drinks for the youth Wednesday night, April 1.

 

Christian Night Race at Darlington Speedway on May 8th at $12.50 per ticket. Everyone welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We will leave the church at 1:30 pm. We will return late. Deadline to sign up is April 5th. See Billy Lewis for details.

 

The Children’s Fellowship needs egg cartons. Please save and place in the box in the vestibule or downstairs in the children’s hall.

The Children’s Fellowship Easter egg hunt will be April 11th from 10 am until 12 noon. Children up to 6th grade are invited to come.

 

On Thursday, March 12th, we had our second outreach ministry for the construction crew working on our multipurpose building. We fed 11 workers in addition to 11 church members. Rose Merck presented a devotion about her testimony and what the Lord has done for her. Tracks and testaments in English and Spanish were available for the men. Each month during construction, we will have a devotional speaker and serve a meal to the crews. In the coming months we will be asking different Sunday School Classes to provide a meal for the men. We will provide a menu and give you an opportunity to help with this Christian out reach. Pray now for God’s will in witnessing to these men and that souls will be saved.

 

We will observe the Lord’s Supper next Sunday!

 

Wednesday is missions night.

 

There will be a church-wide baby shower for Joni Addis on Tuesday, March 31st from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm in the fellowship building. She is having a boy, and she is registered at Babies ‘R Us and Walmart.

 

VBS Boomerang EXPRESS “it all comes back to Jesus” July 12th-17th could use your help. If you are interested in teaching, crafts, recreation, counselor or crowd control for one or two nights. The sign-up sheet is in the vestibule. Everyone can be a helper. You will receive the blessing. VBS Training for all leaders on May 3rd from 5-6 pm in the fellowship building.

 

All T-ball and Coaches Pitch coaches and players for the 2009 Season: Practices will be held on 3/31, 4/7, 4/14/ 4/21 and 4/28. These practices are on Tuesdays and will be from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. T-ball will practice on the t-ball field and the coaches pitch will practice on the large field at the Norris Ball Field. Any questions can be answered by Michelle Stancil.

 

Brotherhood supper on March 30th at 7 pm. Menu to be announced later.

 

Camp Marietta sign-up sheet for boys and girls ages 7-18 is located in the vestibule. All money must be turned in to Crystal Bagwell by April 6th.

 

American Legion Post II of Pickens and the Pickens County Sheriff’s office have joined forces to organize an opportunity for our Local WWII Veterans to travel to Washington, DC and tour their Memorial. We have at least two WWII Veterans in our church. The cost of the flight and tour is about $500 per veteran. If you would like to help, just mark an envelope, WWII and place your contribution inside.

 

Student/youth council meeting on Sunday, April 5th at 5 pm.

 

Directory Innovations, the company that was going to print our directories has gone out of business. The church has decided to have them printed because of our 100 year anniversary. The cost is $10 each. If you can afford to purchase yours, just mark an envelope “directory” and place your $10 inside. If you cannot afford to purchase one and your picture is in the directory, the church will pay for yours.

 

Silent auction to raise money for the building fund. If you are willing to donate a cake or other food items, sign up in the vestibule, see Melinda Zeigler or call her at 868-9888. Items need to be left in the fellowship building on Saturday, April 25th between 5 pm and 8 pm or before the 8:45 am service on Sunday, April 26th. You may view items and place your bids beginning Saturday night and ending about 30 minutes immediately following the evening service on Sunday. We will close the bidding and announce the winners at that time. Come join the fun!

 

Our annual BIG fundraiser for Hazel Green Mission trip will be May 2nd. We will have breakfast: pancakes, sausage and gravy biscuits and for lunch there will be hotdogs, baked beans, chips and dessert. Drinks are included for both meals. Also there will be a car wash and a huge yard sale. All students, parents and youth who plan to participate in the mission trip will meet after the 11 am worship service on April 26th. Each volunteer will have accidental insurance through the Home Mission Board at no cost to you. The medical form that you receive in your information packet must be turned in to Nancy McConnell by May 17th.

The study, “The Deacon I want to be,” starts tonight during Discipleship Training at 6 pm in the Spares and Pairs SS Classroom.

We will observe the Ordinance of Baptism tonight at the beginning of the evening service.

Newsletter for April will be mailed out on Tuesday, March 24th. If you have information that needs to be in the newsletter, please have it in the church office by tomorrow morning.

Well, ladies the day has almost arrived when we will attend the Extraordinary Women’s Conference in Greenville, March 27th-28th. I need to meet with those of you who are going after the 11 am worship service today to go over a few things and to pass out the itinerary, etc. As of now we plan to meet at the church on Friday, March 27th between 4:00-415 pm and leave at 4:30 pm. The conference starts at 7 pm. We are eating at the Golden Corral in Easley prior to going to the conference. Those of you that can’t meet at the church can meet us at the restaurant. We look forward to a wonderful time of fellowship and being refreshed from the messages that we will hear from the speakers. You will be blessed. We will continue our Winter Bible Study on Exodus Wednesday night; Raymond will be teaching.

All aboard for the land down under Vacation Bible School, July 12th-17th. “Boomerang Express it all comes back to Jesus.” There will be special training for all teachers and helpers on Tuesday night at Eastside at 7 pm. There will be a class for each department. Come be a part of a great time and many helpful ideas.

Please come to our D-now worship service at Eastside Baptist in Liberty at 6:50 pm this Saturday. All are invited. If you come, you will be blessed and encouraged as you support the youth of our church.

Students participating in the D-Now need to be at Eastside this Friday at 6 pm. The event will be over on Saturday around 8:30 pm.

Newsletter for April will be mailed out on Tuesday, March 24th. If you have information that needs to be in the newsletter, please have it in the church office by Monday morning, March 23rd. Thanks

 

Walk with the Docs, Saturday, March 28th at 9:30 am starting at Five Point Fellowship Church (Old Colony Theatre) Easley, SC. The Walk With The Docs is a benefit for the Samaritan Heath Clinic of Pickens County. Registration at 9 am and walk begins at 9:30 am. You can pick up a donation Card that has more information for you in the vestibule.

 

We will be receiving our walk offering for the building fund this morning. We have a special container for our children! If you are visiting, you are not expected to participate.

 

Norris Fest workers meeting today at 4:45 pm in the auditorium. Come so you will know what’s going on!

Acteens will meet on March 21st from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the church.

 

If you plan on going on the 2009 Mission Trip, you need to sign-up now. It is filling up fast. We can only take about 40 and we have 35 signed up already.

 

There is a sign-up list in the vestibule for workers in the Norris Fest.

 

Camp Marietta: Boys and girls ages 7-12 will be going to camp July 20-24 and boys and girls ages 13-18 will be going July 27-31. The cost is $97.50 for members of our church and $195 for non-church members. Sign up sheet is in the vestibule. All money must be turned in to Crystal Bagwell by April 6th.

 

The youth will be doing a Disciple Now on March 27-28. We want to invite every adult in the church to come to our last worship meeting on Saturday, March 28th at 6:50 pm at Eastside Baptist Church in Liberty, Please come and support our students. We know you will get a lot out of this service.
