Bulletin Week of 04/12/2009

No evening service today.

 

We have received $2369.89 toward our $2700 goal for our Annie Armstrong offering for North American Missions. We need $330.

 

We will complete our Winter Bible Study on Exodus on Wednesday night. Rebecca Platts will be teaching.

 

Norris Fest meeting April 19th at 4:45 pm in the auditorium.

 

Church conference is moved to next week.

 

Bible Study Fellowship April 26th at 10 am in fellowship building. All adult SS classes are invited to attend.

 

Church Council meeting in the Spares and Pairs classroom on April 26th at 5 pm.

 

May 11th, we will have a Parent/Child Dedication service in the 11 am service. Pick up form in the church office.

 

Blood pressure check after both morning services.

 

Deacon Ministry training will start back April 19th at 6 pm.

 

RISING TO BUILD PRAYER WALKS: April 14th-Kat Albertson will be praying from 1-1:30 pm.

 

VBS Boomerang EXPRESS “it all comes back to Jesus” July 12th-17th could use your help. If you are interested in teaching, crafts, recreation, counselor or crowd control for one or two nights. The sign-up sheet is in the vestibule. Everyone can be a helper. You will receive the blessing. VBS Training for all leaders on May 3rd from 5-6 pm in the fellowship building.

 

If you did not receive your portrait package order from Directory Innovations, call this number (704-545-8469) and speak with Austin. You will need to tell him your name and the church you are from, and if you have your receipt, you can tell him the dollar amount you paid. You cannot get a refund, but he will print and send your pictures for you. The orders come in about four weeks.

 

Silent auction to raise money for the building fund. If you are willing to donate a cake or other food items, sign up in the vestibule, see Melinda Zeigler or call her at 868-9888. Items need to be left in the fellowship building on Saturday, April 25th between 5 pm and 8 pm or before the 8:45 am service on Sunday, April 26th. You may view items and place your bids beginning Saturday night and ending about 30 minutes immediately following the evening service on Sunday. We will close the bidding and announce the winners at that time. Come join the fun!

 

The newsletter for May will be mailed out on Tuesday, April 28th. If you have information to be included in the newsletter, please have it in the church office by Monday, April 27th.

 

Dorcas group meets in the Flora Garrett Classroom, Monday, April 13th at 4:30 pm.

 

Alice Johnson group meets at the home of Meryl O’Donald, Tuesday, April 14th at 7 pm. We will meet at the church at 6:30 pm and carpool. Bring your favorite salad.

 

The new directories are in. See Cindy Lodge or Debra Bracken near the piano to get yours.

 

Our annual BIG fundraiser for Hazel Green Mission trip will be May 2nd. We will have breakfast: pancakes, sausage and gravy biscuits and for lunch there will be hotdogs, baked beans, chips and dessert. Drinks are included for both meals. Also there will be a car wash and a huge yard sale. All students, parents and youth who plan to participate in the mission trip will meet after the 11 am worship service on April 26th. Each volunteer will have accidental insurance through the Home Mission Board at no cost to you. The medical form that you received in your information packet must be turned in to Nancy McConnell by May 17th.

 

Your mission trip T-shirt money needs to be turned in to Karen Kimble by May 10th.

 

We need items for the yard sale. If you are spring cleaning remember to donate your discarded items to the yard sale.

 

Sherry Kelley group meets in the fellowship building, Thursday, April 16th at 7 pm.

 

YAH: It’s time to sign up for the Lake Jocasssee Boat Tour and meal scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd. The cost to you is only $15 per person and is due to Susan when you sign up. For those of you who signed up last fall and paid your $15, your name will be on the sign up list posted on the YAH bulletin board. Sign-up deadline is Sunday, May 3rd.

 

Congratulations to Mark and Christy Holder and big sister Abbigail on the birth of Joseph Edward Holder born April 6th. He weighed 7 pounds eight ounces and was 20 inches long.

 

Sportsmen’s Banquet is open to everyone, April 25th at 5:00 pm at Gethsemane Baptist Temple, 6116 Hwy 81 South, Starr, SC 29684. Tickets are free but you do need them for admission. Call church at 864-261-8457 or Aaron Snelgrove at 864-556-9279 for information.

 

We have three WWII Veterans signed up to go to Washington, DC in September. It cost $500/veteran. We have received $975 to honor them. If you would like to help, place your donation in an envelope and mark it WWII and place it in the offering plate.
