A mother’s prayer

Make me a wise mother, O Lord. Keep me calm and give me patience to bear the small, irritating things in the daily routine of life. Give me tolerance and understanding to bridge the gulf between my generation and that of my children.

Let me not be too ready to guide my children’s stumbling feet but allow me to be ever near to bind their bruises. Give me a sense of humor that I may laugh with them but never at them. Let me refrain from preaching with words, let me show by example instead.

Keep me from forcing their confidences but give me a sympathetic ear when my children come to me. Make me humble. Keep my children close to me, O Lord, though miles may separate us. And let Thy light so shine upon me that they, too, will perceive Thy glory. Amen.

Wishing all mothers a blessed Mother’s Day!

Living for Jesus, Bro. Royce

Letters and Thank You Notes

We received a letter from Adam and Goldie and the girls from Hazel Green, Ky. Goldie sends their thanks for the gifts at Christmas and the financial help with the utility bill. She says Adam is doing good. The weather was really bad this winter with a lot of snow and ice. An ice storm left them without electricity for 18 days.

The girls are wanting to know if the mission team has a Bible School planned this year. They enjoyed seeing Billy and meeting his family.

They are all looking forward to seeing the mission team from First Baptist Norris in June.

They say hello and ask God’s blessing on each and everyone.

Dear Church family,

Thank you so much for all your prayers as Riley and I have been in the hospital-it’s what is getting us through! We also appreciate all the cards, visits and words of encouragement. A special thanks goes out to all the men who came out to support Josh at the baby shower. We have a great church family, and we love you all. Josh and Joni

Thanks to all of you who lifted my name in prayer while I was having my surgery. I am slowly getting back to normal. I appreciate Norris First Baptist Church. God bless you all. Joy Whitaker

Remember to remember

One Memorial Day, some children were asked what the holiday meant to them.

“That’s the day the swimming pool opens!” answered one eager boy. What he didn’t realize or appreciate was that he can freely go to the pool because more than one million people have put their lives on the line to preserve America’s democracy. Many of them died so citizens of other countries might also enjoy the privileges of political, social and economic freedom.

Memorial Day is our opportunity to pause and remember the sacrifices of many of America’s best citizens. They made the supreme sacrifice on our behalf, so please remember to honor these heroes on May 25th

Note: Special thanks to all the children. They have given a total of $225.76 toward the building fund just by putting their loose change and money they have earned in the basket ball goal. Great job!
