As many of you know, I have felt called to foreign missions for some time. This summer I spoke with the IMB and they assured me that the best preparation that I could have for full-time ministry in another country is actually doing mission work in another country! I will leave on December 12 for the mountains of Ecuador. Our team of four college students along with two IMB journeymen will work in Machachi near Quito, the capitol. Our main focus will be on children’s ministry in local schools. We are also planning on other forms of evangelism and prayer walking. The ministry we are working with is called REAP; more information can be found on their website www.reapecuador.org. Please pray for me and the team as we prepare for this trip. On Sunday, November 29th, I will have a silent auction of some of my ceramics and other art here at the church. Rebekah Baker

A big thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make our annual Thanksgiving supper with Faith and Cateechee Baptist Churches a success. A special Thank You to our Social Team for a “job well-done!

Dear Church Family,

My family and I would like to thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity in sponsoring my recent trip to Washington. DC. Being part of Honor Flight 2009 provided me with memories that I will cherish. Spending that day with fellow WWII veterans was so enjoyable. Seeing the WWII Memorial was an experience that I’ll never forget. May God bless you richly for making this blessing possible for me. Love In Him, J. W.

Dear church family,

Thank you so much for all the love and concern you showed to me and Elaine Sunday. We are truly blessed to be of a loving, caring and Spirit-filled church.

We never know what tomorrow may bring, but Jesus has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. He will be there to help us and guide us through any and all circumstances. Jesus is great and wonderful!

Please pray for the Mexico Mission Team that will be gone from November 5th-November 15th.

Living for Jesus, Bro. Royce

Celebrating 50 Years

On Sunday, October 4th, the church family and the immediate family of Mr. J. W. Smith celebrated a milestone in the life of Mr. J.W. It marked his 50th year of teaching Sunday School. The members of the J.W. Smith Bible Study Class presented to him a plaque, and several members spoke about the fond memories they have had during the years they have been attending this class. I think the most humorous revelation was that if you did not have a nickname when you became a member of the class, Mr. Jay was sure to give you one. Linda Simpson, daughter of Mr. Jay, read a lovely poem, which she composed. We appreciate his commitment and faithful service to God and to our church. May God continue to bless and keep you, Mr. Jay.

Young at Heart

Saturday, December 5th, we will have our Christmas Party in the Fellowship Building. Your committee is planning now for a fun night of new ideas. We are asking that each person donate $5 to help with the cost of this event, and we may need you to help with some food. More details forthcoming.

On February 19-20, the youth will be going on a retreat that will deal with purity. On the Sunday night, we will be having a True Love Waits Ceremony. Austin will tell you more about that later. You can go to the website at Look Up Lodge if you have any questions about the retreat at this point. www.lookuplodge.com This retreat will cost each student $73. A $54 deposit is due by the end of November. This price includes six meals. This is lot of money; therefore, we are planning to do some fundraising to offset the cost. The main fundraiser that we are doing is selling Rada knives. These are high quality, inexpensive kitchen knives that make great Christmas presents, and there are other products to sell as well in the Rada catalogue.

Order takers and catalogs were given out to students Sunday night and Wednesday the 28th. Students are responsible to take orders and receive the payments from their “customers.” The completed order takers and all the money is due to Austin on Sunday, November 22nd through November 29th. The goal is set at 160 sales. If the student meets this goal, he/she will receive a gift card of his/her choice: iTunes, Zaxby’s, or Wal-Mart gas.
