The Dorcas Group will meet in the Flora Garrett Classroom tomorrow at 4:30 pm.

Alice Johnson Group will meet Tuesday, August 12th in the home of Jeri Cook at 7:00 pm.

On Thursday August 14th, we will be ministering to the students at Southern Wesleyan University by helping them move into their dorms. There is a sign-up sheet in the vestibule. See Austin for questions.

We are in need of Sunday School teachers in the Youth Department for the 2008-2009 church year. Also, ALL those who have already committed to teach next year would gladly welcome any additional help. If you are willing to serve the Lord in one of these areas, please see Steve Kimble.

The American Family Association is boycotting McDonald’s restaurants because of the company’s promotion of the homosexual agenda, including homosexual marriage. McDonald’s donated $20,000 to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in exchange for membership and a seat on the group’s board of directors. If you haven’t signed the petition on line, there is one in the vestibule.

The wMu Selection Team members will be meeting in the Spares and Pairs Classroom next Sunday, August 17th at 5:00 pm. If you have questions concerning the meeting, please see Becky Harper or Michelle Stancil.

In-house singing next Sunday night, August 17th. Special offering will be taken to help pay for a worship conference, August 22-23 for instrumentalists, sound tech, Austin and John. Please give as God leads.

There is a sign-up sheet in the vestibule if you would like to help in the AWANA program this year.

A big thank you to all the boys and girls of VBS. You gave 792½ pounds of pennies or $1,424.60 toward our June `09 Mission Trip.

The Children’s Church department needs teachers and helpers for the upcoming church year. The commitment would be teaching or helping one Sunday each month. Teachers use the provided Noah’s Ark curriculum binder for lessons and activities. Helpers assist in classroom management, crafts and bathroom breaks. There are openings in the younger class (3-5 year olds) for the 3rd and 4th Sundays. Please sign up in the vestibule or see Stephanie Thomas or Shelia Walters.

Sign up sheet for directory pictures in the vestibule. Pictures will be taken August 27th—August 30th. If you are a regular attendee of our church, we want your picture in the new directory. It will not be the same without you.

If you have pictures or mementos to share for our Homecoming Celebration to be held on September 7, 2008, please give them to Kat Albertson or Susan Yates.

We will celebrate 100 years on September 7th. On that Sunday, we will be taking our regular Building Fund Offering. The Building Steering Team is challenging us for it to be the largest ever received. Will you pray and ask God what He would have you give? The building and offering will be a statement about our faith and our trust in God for the next 100 years.

When purchasing your supplies for home, please remember that United Christian Ministries needs our help with soap, detergent and even those little detergent scoopers. Supplies are taken monthly to Easley and are greatly appreciated.

YAH: It is time to sign up for the Jocassee Lake Tour on Oct. 11th and the deadline is Sunday, Aug. 31st. Tour begins at 10 am and BBQ lunch will follow. Cost is only $15 per person with YAH funds paying the balance. Sign up at the YAH bulletin board and pay your $15 to one of the team leaders by Sunday, Aug. 31st.

Thank you everyone who helped in anyway for the Mexico Team fundraiser yesterday. We have received $3060.97 toward our $3500 goal to build the church in November. We have 16 church members who feel God leading them to Mexico this year. Maybe you can’t go, but you can support one of these team members. Team members: the pastor needs your deposit to reserve your place.

We will be observing the Ordinance of Baptism on August 31st in the evening service. If you need to follow the Lord in believers baptism, be sure the pastor has your name.
