Bulletin: Week of March 28, 2010

This morning we will observe the Ordinance of the Lord’s Supper. If you are a born-again believer, you are invited to participate.

 

Norris Fest meeting today at 4:30 pm in the auditorium.

 

Brotherhood meeting tomorrow at 7 pm in the fellowship hall.

 

No AWANA or Youth fellowship Wednesday night due to Spring Break.

 

Winter Bible Study continues Wednesday with June Hunter teaching.

 

Youth Softball practice Thursdays at Norris Recreation Field from 6 pm until 7 pm. Bring glove (bat if you have one) water and a great attitude. Coach is needed for the youth team!

Attention church family: Would you please check your garage or storage rooms; the women’s softball bats are missing. There are about 8-10 bats-orange, blue, gray, wooden; these are just some of the colors the youth need for these games. See Pam Gibson.

 

Flora Ann Group will meet in the fellowship building on Tuesday, March 30th at 7:00 pm. Hosted by Mandy Davis, Janice Wright and Beverly Morrison. Hope to see all members there!

 

The 2010 Camp Marietta schedule is as follows: July 19-23 for youth ages 13-19; younger students, July 26-30th ages 7-12. NFBC attending will be $110.00. Please let Olivia know if you plan to attend by April 25th and $75 deposit will be due then. The remainder will be due by May 17th.

 

Easter Sunrise Service, April 4th at 7 am with Rev. Jeff Harris, pastor of Calumet Baptist Church, speaking. Hardee’s Biscuits afterwards. No evening service.

 

We have received $2,696 toward our $2700 goal for Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Every dollar goes to support North American missionaries. Thank you for giving.

Attention High School Youth on April 9th and 10th we will be having a D-Now event. The cost is $10. Give your $10 to Austin by next Sunday.

 

Attention Middle School Youth on April 16th and 17th we will be having a D-Now for middle school youth. You may not know exactly what a D-Now is, but you will soon. The cost is $10. Give your $10 to Austin by Sunday the 11th.

 

The Spring Cleaning Campaign This Thursday the youth are looking to help you do some cleaning or lawn work to raise funds for centrifuge. Let Austin know if you have any work they can do.

 

“Spring Caregivers’ Dinner: Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, Thursday, May 20th from 6:30-8:30 pm. at First United Methodist Church, Easley. Fee will be $30 with a $10 deposit by May 11th. Will be led by Peggy Dulaney, MSN, RN, BC. More info: call (864) 232-5683 or email: cathie@theanchorage.org

 

The Winsome Bible Study Class gave a donation to the Building Fund in memory of Reverend Erskine Thomas.

 

Rev. and Mrs. Addis and the entire church family extend Christian love and sympathy to Bob Rogers and family in the death of Bob’s great-grandson, Timothy Rogers and to Joe Baker and family in the death of Joe’s mother, Harriet.

 

The Dorcas Group is looking for someone who would like to join in fellowship with their group. They meet once a month and it is usually during the day. If you think you would like to be a part of the Dorcas Group and would like more information, please see June Hunter.

 

We would like to thank our church family for your continued encouragement, support and Christian love for our family. The Properties Team will meet at 5:00 pm this afternoon in the Young Married Classroom.

 

Praise the Lord! We exceeded our $5500 goal for Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. We have received $6,127.08. If you haven’t given, it is not too late. Thank you for loving people who have never heard the “Good News.”

 

Mandy and Greg will provide snacks for the youth, January 13th.

 

Dorcas Group meets in the Flora Garrett Classroom tomorrow at 4:30 pm.

 

Alice Johnson Group meets Tuesday, January 12th at 7:00 pm in the home of Jeri Cook.

 

Sherry Kelley Group will meet at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 21st at the fellowship building. Please bring a gift to play a game with. Faith and Laura are hosting. Call Denise or Lisa if you have questions. Denise: 207-6890

 

Baptist Men’s Day will be January 24th.

 

Church Council will meet next Sunday, January 17th at 5 pm. Please note that this is a change of date.

 

Combined Bible Study fellowship will still meet January 31st in the Fellowship Building at 10 am for Bible Study and refreshments.

 

Winter Bible Study starts February 10th on Wednesday nights. We still need teachers. Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule.

 

It’s time for softball sign-ups. Check the vestibule for the sign-up sheets for t-ball through youth. There are opportunities for players, coaches and team parents.

 

The 14th annual Sportsmen Expo will be held on Saturday, January 30th at The Garrison Arena at Clemson University from 12:00-5:00 pm. Guest speaker will be Shaw Grisby, a professional BASS fisherman. Advance ticket prices will be $5 for adults and $4 for 15 and under. Tickets at the door will be $7 for adults and $5 for those in uniform and 15 and under. For tickets and more information, call Utica Church at 882-9402.

 

Please continue to save Box Tops and Nestles Bottle Labels for Education for Schools. The collection box is located in the vestibule of the old church. Thanks for your support!

 

Parents and Students: this summer the students (7-12th graders) are going to centrifuge camp at Ridgecrest, NC. The total cost for students will be $152. The fifty dollar deposits are due to Austin, January 24th. This will be a non-refundable deposit. Centrifuge date: June 28th-July 3rd.

 

Some of you still owe money on your deposit for February Retreat; see Austin for how much. Remember the remaining $20 is due February 7th.

 

On January 23, we will be having “Fathers, Sons and Guns.” Students will need to get a permission slip from Austin to go (this will be a highly adult supervised skeet shooting activity for all fathers of youth and young men in the youth group). The event will start in the fellowship building at 12 noon where chili will be served. After that, we will head to the Boggs’ place to do some organized shooting.

 

The Extraordinary Women’s Conference is coming to the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville on April 23-24th. This is a month later than it has been for the past two years. I am planning to order tickets by March 8th in order to get the early rate of $49 for 10 women or more (add $10 if you would like lunch). Look for a sign-up sheet in the next couple of weeks for this wonderful event. Chonda Pierce with Jeremy Camp in concert are scheduled for Friday night. Saturday will have Sheri Rose Shepherd, Angela Thomas, Matthew West in concert, Karen Kingsbury and Lysa TerKeurst. This will be spiritually uplifting and fun. Thanks, Rosanne

We will be receiving our Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions this morning. Our church goal is $2700. Pray and then give.

 

Everyone working in “Parade of Tables” will meet in the fellowship building today at 5:00 pm. This includes kitchen staff, waiters, waitresses and children and nursery workers.

 

Winter Bible Study will continue Wednesday night with Nancy McConnell teaching.

 

David and Jane will furnish snacks for youth, March 17th.

 

Sherry Kelley Group will meet Thursday, March 18th at 7:00 pm in the fellowship building. Hope to see you there.

 

Alice Johnson group will meet in the Fellowship Building on Tuesday, March 23rd at 7:00 pm.

 

Parade of Tables and Silent Auction fundraiser will be March 27th beginning at 6 pm with a tour of the decorated tables. Dinner will be served at 7 pm and there will be a special guest speaker at 7:30 pm. The tickets are $12 per person. Childcare will be available for children 12 and under during the event.

 

Your help is needed! We need items to sell in the silent auction to be held at the Parade of Tables, March 27th. Please give items to Melinda Zeigler by March 21st. All proceeds go toward the Family life Center.

Congratulations to Debra Bracken who is the winner of our walking exercise challenge last week; she walked 29 miles. William Melton was first runner up with 12½ miles. Each week the winner receives a gift from the hospital. Group total of miles was 78. This week’s winners were Debra-29 miles, Kat Albertson and Jane Yates-21 miles and William Melton-17 miles. Total of 62½ miles.

If you have joined our health walk, please write the number of miles, steps, etc., on the chart, and if you have exercised, list the minutes/hours on the chart located on the health bulletin board in the hall outside the adult Bible Study classes.
