Bulletin: Week of October 31, 2010

Mexico Team meeting today at 5 pm in the Spares and Pairs Bible Study Classroom.

 

Baptist Women’s Day of Prayer, “In Step with the Spirit” Monday, November 1st at Easley First Baptist Chapel; (refreshments will be served after the program) and at Enon Baptist Church, Easley at 7 pm. Featured speaker, Melanie Ratcliffe, former missionary to Russia. She was a recent guest at our spring meeting in 2009 at Elljean. Mission Project, bring a generous offering to be divided between “Feed A Hungry Child” program of Pickens County and the International Day of Prayer Offering.

 

Billy and Olivia Lewis will provide snacks for youth Wednesday night.

 

Next Sunday, November 7th, Daylight Saving Time ends. Be sure to set your clocks back an hour on Saturday night before you go to bed.

 

AWANA clubbers will be taking up donations for “Country Santa” for their monthly mission project. Church members are welcome to bring in items for this as well if you would like. The donation boxes will be in the old vestibule and in the downstairs hallway.

 

Children of the church – Mark your calendars for the following dates: Saturday, November 13th, the Children’s Fellowship will be going to Niven’s Farm in Moore, SC for a day of fall fun! We will go on a hayride, pick a pumpkin, mine for gems and have a picnic. The vans will leave the church at 9:00 am and will return at 3 pm. The cost is $5 per child. Please sign up in the vestibule or downstairs by Sunday, November 7th.

Saturday, January 15th, we will be going to the Greenville Pavilion for ice skating or bouncy house fun! More details to come later. Please join us for both theses exciting events! See Karen Kimble or Suzanne Merck with any questions.

Piedmont Baptist Association’s annual meeting is Thursday, November 4th at 7 pm at Calumet Baptist Church in Liberty. We need messengers to represent our church. If you would like to be one, see the pastor.

 

Dorcas Group meets in the Flora Garrett classroom on Monday, November 8th at 4:30 pm.

 

Alice Johnson Group meets in the home of Jane Boggs on Tuesday November 9th at 7:00 pm.

 

Kerry Avery will be having a Concealed Weapons Class on November 13th. Anyone interested, please see Kerry.

 

Youth, November 14th will be a special “We love the Youth” Sunday night. After the PM Service, we will be having Smores and hanging out in the fellowship building. Parents be sure you receive some materials from Austin on this night.

 

Combined Thanksgiving Service with First Baptist, Norris; Faith Baptist and Cateechee Baptist on November 21st. We will be meeting at Cateechee Baptist Church; the service will start at 6:00 pm and the meal afterwards. The Melodyaires will be the featured group.

 

Congratulations to Michelle Dalton who won the Liberty High School Home Coming Queen.

 

Thank you Third and Fourth Grade Sunday School Class for donating $22.61 to buy candy for children in Mexico.

Bulletin: Week of October 24, 2010

Flowers are placed in the church today by Christine Hendrix in memory of Cecil Hendrix.

 

Today is Pink Sunday. We will be observing Breast Health Awareness. The Health Ministry Team will be hosting an education teaching session with hands on learning in the fellowship hall during the Bible Study hour (10 am). Refreshments will be provided, and there will be drawings for door prizes. All men who would like to drop by for refreshments are welcome.

 

We will observe the Lord’s Supper during the evening service tonight. Come and be blessed.

 

Adults-Student Council meeting at 5 pm in the Spares and Pairs Room.

 

Tonight, after the evening service, the Mexico Mission Team will be sponsoring a Soup Supper to help raise funds. This will be the last one. The team is still in need of about $2000 at this time. Come and enjoy your favorite soup: Tomale, potato, vegetable, Tiger chili, Cowboy Beans, Broccoli or Chicken Corn Fajita. Corn dogs for the children (who will not eat soup), corn bread, dessert and tea; all for a donation. Support your missionaries!

 

First Place 4 Health will meet in the Spares and Pairs room tomorrow night (Monday) at 7:00 pm.

 

For those Young at Heart attending the Glory Conference at Ridgecrest, please meet at the church on Tuesday no later than 2:00 pm. We will return Thursday afternoon around 3:00 pm.

 

Special Choir practice for Christmas Musical this Saturday, October 30th at 9:00 am.

 

Trunk’r Treat Retreat: October 29-November 1. On Friday, students should be at the church from 7:30-815 pm to register. Parents, we invite you to come at 8:30 pm to join us for snacks and an introduction devotion.

 

We received $761.05 for World Hunger last Sunday. Thank you for giving.

We will observe the Ordinance of Baptism tonight and the Lord’s Supper next Sunday night.

 

We will receive an offering for World Hunger today.

 

We will be celebrating Pastors’ Appreciation today after the 11 AM Worship Service. We will be having a church-wide lunch in the fellowship building.

 

Sherry Kelly group will meet in the fellowship building at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 21st. Please bring items to add to care packages for Steven Nix and Barbara Melton.

 

Teacher Appreciation supper on Saturday, Oct. 23rd at 7 pm at Fiesta in Central. All Bible Study teachers and Discipleship Training teachers (this year’s and last year’s) are invited. The church will pay for you and a guest. Children are welcome but at your expense. Sign-up sheet in vestibule.

 

Sunday, October 24th is Pink Sunday. We will be observing Breast Health Awareness. The Youth’s Trunk’r Treat Retreat will begin on Friday, October 29th at 7 pm; we will be back Monday, November 1st around 4:00 pm.

 

Easley First Baptist church will host “The singing Churchmen and Seraph Song” on Monday, October 18th at 7 pm. You are invited.

 

“Bible Study (Sunday School) takes an hour but offers benefits that last an Eternity.”

Wednesday, our church was involved with Liberty’s Fields of Faith stadium event. We had a great turn-out and 137 were saved at the event.

Today, the youth are having a prayer walk at Liberty Stadium. Please meet at the stadium at 4 pm to pray. After the prayer walk, Austin will take students to the church at Norris after they play some ultimate Frisbee at freedom park in Liberty.

 

This Wednesday night, October 13th the youth will be going to Fields of Faith. Meet here at the church at 6 pm for a ride. Bring all your friends and parents are welcome to come also.

 

We have received $1449 for our Janie Chapman offering for State Missions. Our goal is $1500.

 

Mexico Mission Team will meet today at 5:00 pm in the Spares and Pairs classroom.

 

Please be praying with the Mexico Mission Team about the upcoming trip. We have 16 missionaries signed up to leave on November 4th. We still need $2789 for the trip.

 

We will have a Baptismal Service on October 17th in the evening service.

 

Children’s Choir will begin today at 5 pm. They will be practicing for a Christmas musical. Kindergarten through Sixth Grade are invited to participate.

 

We will be receiving an offering for World Hunger next Sunday.

The cost for the “Trunk or Treat Retreat,” Friday October 29-November 1st is $30, please get this to Austin today. If you cannot pay it, talk to Austin. Be sure to fill out a medical release form which is due Sunday.

 

Youth/Parents-the Centrifuge Mobile July 18th—23rd calendar fundraiser money and calendar orders are due today.

Screenings for stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysms and other vascular diseases are being done at Liberty United Methodist Church on October 27th. Cost is $139 and appointments are necessary and are limited. If you would like to participate, call 1-800-395-1801 now.

For your information: If you signed up for the screenings at church a few months ago, this program did not work out. They will not be doing those screenings.

Today is the last day to sign up for the Mexico T-shirt, “Fulfilling the Vision.” Cost is $15; profit will go to the Mexico Team.

 

We will have a singing here at the church this Saturday, October 9th at 7 pm. The featured group will be the Mt. View Quartet and Jeremy Arnett, Josh Addis and Tina Kelly will be singing.. A love offering will be received for the Mexico Mission Team.

 

Young adults: Remember that we will have community group at 6:30 pm on the first Thursday of October (Oct. 7) and the 3rd Thursday of October (Oct. 21) both at the Braswell’s house.

 

Reid and Crystal Bagwell will furnish snacks for youth this Wednesday night.

 

Next Sunday, October 10th in both morning services, Jennifer Rodgers will be here from “Chosen People Ministries” to share with us about the Feasts of Israel. A love offering will be received for Chosen People Ministries.

The Stadium evangelistic event, “Fields of Faith” will begin at the Liberty Stadium at 6:30 pm, October 13th. We want to invite all parents and any adults to come and join us. In conjunction with Fields of Faith, we need two things; first, decision counselors: Today, October the 3rd at 5 pm, here at the church, Austin will be holding some counselor training and second, your prayers: On Sunday, October the 10th at 4 pm, we will be having a stadium prayer walk, and we would love to have any of you volunteer for these services.

Thank you for supporting the Mexico Mission Team dinner last Sunday. The team raised $1012. The team has two more fundraisers and a need of $3,051 for the missionaries.

The Mexico Mission Team is serving lunch after the 11 AM Service today in the fellowship building. Ham or chicken with all the fixins. We will have extra food if you forgot to sign up last week! Support your 16 missionaries to Mexico.

 

The Mexico Team would appreciate donations of toiletries that you have collected from motels during your travels. They will give them out to the women and children on their trip in November.

 

The Mexico Mission Team will be wearing a t-shirt to Mexico this year. On the front it will have a cross with the words, “Answering the Call” and on the back, “Mexico, Norris FBC” “Fulfilling the Vision” 2000-2010. You have the opportunity to purchase one. The cost is $15. Any profit will go to the team. Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule. Give your money to the pastor; need the money before shirt is ordered.

 

End of Summer Picnic at Central Park, October 2. Will eat at 5:00 pm. The church will furnish BBQ. Sign up for the fixins and be sure to bring a drink or tea.

 

The Piedmont Baptist Associational Revival is September 26-29th. We will be joining them Monday through Wednesday at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Vans will leave the church at 6:15 pm.

 

No Wednesday night activities at the church this week due to the PBA Revival.

 

The youth will have a special pre-service free pizza dinner at 5:15 at Rock Springs Church. Any youth that want to this, please meet at the church at 4:45 pm for a ride to and from Rock Springs this Wednesday night.

Golden Harvest Food Bank and Liberty Elementary are joining together and they are seeking sponsors to provide meals for after school and weekends for Liberty Elementary students who meet the criteria to receive these meals. The cost for each student per year is $128 or $4 per week. For more information, you may contact Michelle Stancil. Be praying about how God may use you to help in this local ministry.
