Bulletin: Week of August 28, 2011

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Note: Billy Lewis needs to meet with all the AWANA workers for this year after the pm service tonight.

Today is Church Music Emphasis Sunday.

Plan to attend tonight’s Camp Report Service-those who went to camp this summer (Centrifuge and Camp Marietta) will be showing the church about the blessing of camp. Wear your Camp Shirt.

Newsletter for September will be sent out on August 31, 2011. Please have all your information for the newsletter in the office by tomorrow morning.

The Flora Ann Group will meet on Tuesday evening August 30th at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Building for the Back-to-School party for Helping Hands.

Chain Reaction Day Retreat at Look Up Lodge on Saturday, September 3rd. Parents and students, please attend our special “Chain Reaction Breakfast” at 9 am, September 3rd. This is a special breakfast for parents and students to hear about the new exciting year of youth ministry at FBC Norris. The breakfast will be the beginning of the Day Retreat, and we will be back around 9:00 pm. Please sign up in the entrance if you plan to attend the breakfast.

Mark your calendar: On Saturday, September 17th, we will be giving food away from Golden Harvest Food Bank. We will need your help.

We invite the entire church to attend the King Jesus Wednesday prayer service on Wednesday, September 7th at 7 pm in the sanctuary. This will be a time of worship and prayer for all of the church to begin the new church year.

1884 is when support for state missions began for the Baptist’s Woman’s Missionary Societies of South Carolina, otherwise known as the Janie Chapman offering. Way back when, the offering was $70.34. Times have changed and seasons have come and gone, but we still support the Janie Chapman offering. This year’s goal is $1500.00 and we need your help to make this commitment a reality. Please pray and give as the Lord directs your heart. We will receive this offering on September 18th.

First Financial Peace University Class FREE! Tuesday, September 6th; childcare provided. It is not too late to sign up.

We will be having deacon election next Sunday.

Children’s Church: There is a teacher opening for the 4th Sunday in Children’s Church. Please let Stephanie Thomas or Shelia Walters know if you are willing to serve in this important ministry.

The carpet in the educational rooms will be cleaned Thursday and Friday of this week. Wednesday night after Bible Study, all the chairs will need to be placed on the tables. Please come and help.

Camp Creek Baptist Church has agreed to sponsor the Good News Club at Chastain Road Elementary School. The director will be Faye Owens. This club will meet after school on Wednesday afternoons and starts Sept 21st. If you would be interested in helping with this ministry, see Linda Simpson for contact information.

Food was not needed at this time for the family of Velma Walters. Instead of serving a meal, the ladies who would have ordinarily prepared a dish are going to make a donation. Please put it in a small white envelope and note on the envelope “Memorial for Velma” and place the envelope in the offering plate. Anyone who would like is welcome to participate. The donation will go to the Building Fund at First Baptist Church, Norris.

For the upcoming church year, consider placing flowers in the sanctuary in honor of, or in memory of someone. Or consider placing flowers in the sanctuary just to give praise and honor to Jesus. The new sign-up list is posted outside the church office. Simply put your name on the Sunday you prefer and if it is to honor or in memory of someone, indicate that name as well. Then you are responsible for making the arrangements to have the flowers placed and for removing them after the Sunday PM service for the date you reserved. Ann will get the information from the sign-up list for the bulletin. This is a great way to beautify our church.

Rev. and Mrs. Addis and the entire church family extend Christian love and sympathy to the family of Velma Walters in her death and to the family of Sue Coffey in her passing.

The new procedure for the counting of the offering will start next Sunday, Sept 4th. Those involved need to meet with Mark Holder after the AM Services. This is new church year, ushers and tellers.

Newsletter for August, 2011

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Well, the end of August will end another church year! September will be the start of a new church year. Some of us will think back over the last church year and will have regrets. I could have worked more for Jesus. I could have given more. I could have volunteered in various places. I could have invited that lost love one or friend to church. I could have witnessed more! Some will have many regrets, but that is in the past!! We can’t change that, but we can change the future! Pray and ask the Lord Jesus what He wants you to do. Pray and ask Him about our next mission project. May we catch God’s vision for our church.

Living for Jesus, Bro. Royce
