We will have deacons election this morning. We ask that only church members vote.

We invite the entire church to attend the King Jesus Wednesday prayer service on Wednesday, September 7th at 7 pm in the sanctuary. This will be a time of worship and prayer for all of the church to begin the new church year.

September 14th AWANA starts at 6:30 pm. We need teachers/helpers for the new year. Please see Billy Lewis if you are willing to work in AWANA.

Mark your calendar: On Saturday, September 17th, we will be giving food away from Golden Harvest Food Bank. We will need your help and there is a sign-up sheet in the vestibule. The food will be here at 8:30 am and members that are helping need to be here at 7:30 am.

1884 is when support for state missions began for the Baptist’s Woman’s Missionary Societies of South Carolina, otherwise known as the Janie Chapman offering. Way back then, the offering was $70.34. Times have changed and seasons have come and gone, but we still support the Janie Chapman offering. This year’s goal is $1500.00 and we need your help to make this commitment a reality. Please pray and give as the Lord directs your heart. We will receive this offering on September 18th.

Sound Team meeting on September 18th at 4:30 pm.

On September 20th at 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the fellowship building, the Alice Johnson Group will be sponsoring a baby shower for Deanna and John Braswell. The entire church is invited to attend. They are registered at Babies-R-Us and Walmart. Deanna is having a girl.

Camp Creek Baptist Church has agreed to sponsor the Good News Club at Chastain Road Elementary School. The director will be Faye Owens. This club will meet after school on Wednesday afternoons and starts Sept 21st. If you would be interested in helping with this ministry, see Linda Simpson for contact information.

Children’s Church: There is a teacher opening for the 4th Sunday in Children’s Church. Please let Stephanie Thomas or Shelia Walters know if you are willing to serve in this important ministry.

If you would like to make memorials in memory of Velma Walters and/or Sue Coffey, please place them in white envelopes and mark them as “Memorial for Velma” or “Memorial for Sue” and place them in the offering plate. All memorials received will go the building fund of First Baptist Church, Norris.

For the upcoming church year, consider placing flowers in the sanctuary in honor of, or in memory of someone. Or consider placing flowers in the sanctuary just to give praise and honor to Jesus. The new sign-up list is posted outside the church office. Simply put your name on the Sunday you prefer and if it is to honor or in memory of someone, indicate that name as well. Then you are responsible for making the arrangements to have the flowers placed and for removing them after the Sunday PM service for the date you reserved. Ann will get the information from the sign-up list for the bulletin. This is a great way to beautify our church.

Mark your calendar for October 1st for the End-of-Summer picnic.

Dear Church Family,

Thank you very much for the monetary gift you gave me for Music Appreciation. I really appreciate it, and I would like to say it has been a joy to serve as your Minister of Music. God Bless all, John

Thank you so much for all the phone calls, visits and prayers during my mother’s illness. You helped to make a difficult journey much more bearable. We also appreciate the support you have given to our family during her final days. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful church family. Love in Christ, Heather Trotter, Richmond Coffey and Justin Coffey
